Terry L. Wotring, 83, husband of the late Helena (Kulak) Wotring, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Born on December 10, 1940, in Allentown, PA, Terry was the son of the late Lee and Elizabeth (Markell) Wotring.
A devoted family man, Terry was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church and dedicated his career to Stanley Works in New Britain, where he proudly retired after 30+ years of service as a Metallurgist. He carried the same dedication into his personal life, particularly his passion for maintaining a pristine lawn and yard. He took exceptional pride in his property, devoting himself daily to its care, a reflection of his meticulous nature and love for hard work.
Terry was also an avid outdoorsman, with a lifelong love of fishing that provided him peace and joy. In his younger years, he and his late brother, Blaine Wotring, shared a passion for automobiles, particularly Alfa Romeos. The two not only worked on these fine machines but also raced them together, creating memories that exemplified Terry’s adventurous spirit and love of craftsmanship.
Above all, Terry will be remembered as a caring father, a proud grandfather, and a loving husband. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to family, and the kindness he shared with those around.
Terry leaves behind his cherished family: his daughter, Christine Hill of Avon, CT; his son, Mark Wotring and his wife, Lisa, of Preston, CT; his four beloved grandchildren: Zachary, Isabella, Max, and Luke, as well as, his beloved cat, Lily. He is also survived by his great-aunt, Roselyn O’Connell of California, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Terry was predeceased by his brother, Blaine Wotring.
The family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with calling hours beginning at 9:00a.m. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Helena.
