Tadeusz Mazur

Tadeusz (Tad/Ted) Mazur of Boyonton Beach, FL, formerly of New Britain, danced his way peacefully to Heaven's Gate on Feb. 16. Born May 8, 1926 in Czajczynce, Poland to Aleksandra & Marek Mazur, Tad spent his first 16 yrs. of life in that rural village before being taken away from his home & family to work in the Nazi labor camps during WWll. A true survivor, he spent three years enduring unimaginably harsh conditions in labor camps, a Gestapo prison and Lendringsen concentration camp before embarking on a daring escape with two fellow prisoners. Postwar, he emigrated to the US as a refugee with his then wife Margaret and infant daughter Alexandra. They settled in New Britain to begin their lives anew. Tad embraced his adopted country and proudly became a citizen in 1957. As an NB resident, he was a member of the Gen. Haller Post 111, the NB Elks 957, Polish Falcons Nest 88 and an active and devoted member of the Church of the Transfiguration. He remained in NB until his retirement and eventual move to his much loved second home in Boynton Beach. Tad had an unmistakable "joie de vivre" that earned him admiration from all who knew him. Always willing to experience new adventures, he was a world traveler, avid and competitive skier and ballroom dancer extraodinaire, passions that he embraced at every opportunity. He loved and appreciated music and art, displaying a talent for both. His life in FL consisted of daily beach walks, Caribbean cruises and a vibrant social life as an active member of the American German Club of Fort Worth. Most important to Tad, however, was family… both here & abroad. Besides his parents, Tad was pre-deceased by his beloved older sister Kazimiera (Kazia) Gawrysczuk and great-grand children Peyton Alexandra Bocian & Kevin Michael Pisko. Left to mourn his loss & celebrate his life are his daughters and sons-in-law Alexandra & Kevin Smith and Linda & James Aglio, Jr., grandchildren Kirsten Bocian & Michael Pisko & their spouses Jim & Tracey, Dr. Taylor Aglio & James Aglio, lll, great-grandchildren Griffin & Casey Pisko and Brita & Gavin Bocian, nephews Adolph, Michael & Mark Gawron & Chester Gawrysczuk and their families, extended family in Poland & France as well as special FL friends Stan & Renate Poljak, Erika Geyer & Lamana Balboni. Calling hours will be held on Fri., Feb. 26 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Sat., Feb. 27 at 10 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration, 8 Concord St., New Britain. Plans for a memorial service in FL are pending.
