

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sophie Kucharski, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, August 7 at the age of 100.
Born on July 18, 1922 in the small Ukrainian village of Klitsko, she was the daughter of Fedor Stasiuk and Antonine (Leszczynska) Stasiuk.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jan, her parents and 6 siblings, Michael, Katerina, Gregory, Stefan, Vasil and Maria.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanna (Ivanka) Cronkhite and her husband, Richard, her son, Gregory Kucharski and his wife, Beverly, a daughter-in-law, Wanda Oja, 4 grandchildren, Tania Dutton and her husband, James, Jennifer Withington and her husband, Christopher, Gregory Kucharski and his wife, Charlotte and a step grandson, Gregory Cronkhite and his wife, Becky, 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas Dutton, Amelia Withington, Abigail Dutton and Joshua Cronkhite. She also leaves behind her best friend, Patches the cat.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking for her family and friends and crocheting beautiful afghans for her grand and great grandchildren. She was involved for many years with St. Josephat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, cooking, baking bread and singing in the church choir. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 4 until 7 PM at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday August 11, 2022, at 10AM at St. Josephat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Josephat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.
