Mary “Gen” (Picini) DiGiacomo, 93, widow of Carl J. DiGiacomo, of Plainville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at the Apple Rehab in Plainville with her family by her side. Born in Waterbury she was daughter to the late Anthony and Angeline (Sabia) Picini and had retired to Florida for 28 years. Before her retirement she worked as receptionist and manicurist at Headmasters Salon in Berlin and was a member of St. Maurice Church.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother she will be dearly missed by her loving family, daughter, Patricia Stachelek and her husband Walter of New Britain, a son, Carl DiGiacomo of Plainville, her sisters: Florence (Jackie) Lawson of Margate, FL, Ceil Dunn and husband Edward of Waterbury, eight grandchildren and their spouses: Dawn and Dale Roth, Dale and Bryan Martini, Dana Stachelek and fiancé, Salvatore Aresco, Darci and Richard Pearce, Christina DiGiacomo, Gina DiGiacomo, Nicholas DiGiacomo, Amber Rankin and three great grandchildren: Patrick and Kimberly Boyle and Aubrey Pearce and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at 9:00am at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10am in St. Maurice Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 from 5-8pm. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Apple Rehab for their compassionate care.
