Mary Dympina Angelo, 72, wife of Edward “Ed” Angelo, married since 1965, of New Britain lost her battle with cancer on June 6th, 2020 at home with her loved ones by her side. Mary was born on May 16, 1948 on the island of Saint Lucia, West Indies to the late parents Eldra Joseph, of Cayenne, French Guiana and Henry Poyotte of Saint Lucia, West Indies. Mary was a devoted mother and housewife, who supported her husband, Ed as a small business owner of Angelo Enterprises of New Britain, Connecticut. She was a parishioner of Saint Andrews Lutheran Church of New Britain. She enjoyed having family gatherings with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends of her children who she treated like her own. Mary’s persistence made her the first woman to obtain a driver’s license in Saint Lucia.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived and will be dearly missed by her siblings: Roderick, Vincent, Richard, Stephen, Roselyn, Constance, Philomen, Francis, Anselma and many nieces and nephews. Her children, Earl, of Houston, TX. Merrilene (George) of New Britain. Jessica (Simon) of New Britain, CT. Bertha (Sylvester) of New Britain, CT. Michael of New Britain, CT. Wanita (Kent) of West Hartford, CT and God Daughter Deby of New Britain, CT. Grandchildren: Travis, Tariq, Temara, Alex, Tatiana, Taylor, Tori, Miesha, Mea, Mykal, Milon, Natalie, Jasmine, Arryn, Chanel, Charisse, Jayda, Janiah, Tyrell, and Great-Grandchild Julian. In-laws: Residing in Saint Lucia and the US, Guy Angelo, Vincent Angelo, Velina Angelo, Joseph Angelo, Philomen Angelo, Venice Angelo, Gregory Angelo (deceased) and Wallice Angelo (deceased). Life-long friends Berthelina (cha Berthelina) Isidore, Madeline Joseph, Nurse Leo aka Titi, Colletta Cherry. Mary’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the members and staff of Hartford Healthcare Cancer Center, especially Dr. Brian Byrne for all the care that was provided to her during and after her treatment.
Calling hours will be held on Friday June 19, 2020 from 4-7PM at New Britain Memorial-Donald D Sagarino Funeral Home at 444 Farmington Ave. A Church Service will be held Saturday, June 20 at 9:00am at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 396 Church St, New Britain. Internment services to follow at 10AM at the Fairview Cemetery in New Britain. We ask that ALL COVID-19 CT State and venue rules be respected and followed. The family will be accepting guests at 177 & 175 Sexton St, in New Britain following the burial. Parking is EXTREMELY limited; guests have the option to park at 145 North St. and carpool.
