Marianna Gajos, 85, of Newington, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022. Born in Raduchow, Poland to the late Jozef and Lucja (Zielezinska) Pohl, Marianna grew up in Poland and spent her formative years working and living in Lodz and Wroclaw prior to coming to the United States in 1962, where she met and married her late husband, Walter, and started a family.
Marianna’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always made her laugh. Marianna enjoyed traveling and reminiscing with her best friends, Skyping with family in Poland, and most of all, big family gatherings. In addition to being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marianna will always be remembered for the hard work she put into providing for her family after moving the US. She built a great life with Walter and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Marianna is predeceased by her sister Halina Garncarek, and brother Andrzej Pohl.
Marianna will be dearly missed and is survived by: her daughters Eva Giarratana and her husband John, of Newington, Jadz Molka and her husband Scott Pierce, of Newington, Lisa Skonieczny and her husband Zenek, of Newington; sisters Zofia Gmyrek, of Newington, Kazimiera Grzelak, Krystyna Domachowska, and brother Jozef and his wife Maria Pohl, and sister-in-law Krystyna Pohl, all of Poland; grandchildren: Daniel Molka and partner Jillian Hubeny, Nicole Cook and her husband Ken, Giovanni Giarratana, Alex Skonieczny, and Victoria Skonieczny; great-grandchildren: Kenny, John, and Olivia Cook; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Broad Street, New Britain on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 9:30am, with interment services to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt Street, New Britain. Friends and family are invited to call upon Marianna’s family at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm, as well as Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:00am.
