Helen Camp passed away peacefully on August 1, 2011 at the Sheriden Woods Convalescent Home in Bristol, CT at the age of 88. She was formerly of Plainville, CT and Jupiter, FL. Helen was born on December 2, 1922 to Louis and Josephine Bielski. She was predeceased by the loving husband, Joseph Peter Camp, her son, Richard Douglas Camp, and her six siblings; Louis Jr, Henry, John, Genevieve, Stella and Florence. Helen leaves behind her eldest daughter, Linda and her husband Bradley Hayward, and her youngest daughter, Marcia Camp and her significant other Gregory Horn, her four grandchildren; Richard Camp and his wife Nancy, Sharon Johnson, Paul Hayward and his wife Molly, and Dean Hayward, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, the loving staff at Sheriden Woods and Bristol Hospital Hospice, and 2 grand puppies.
Helen loved spending time by the ocean at the family cottage in Old Lyme, CT where she and her family spent many happy summers. After the death of her husband, Joseph, she relocated to Jupiter, FL for many years before returning to CT to be with her family. Another love of Helen’s was reading biographies, world and ancient history books, and traveling to foreign countries. Helen will most be remembered by her children for the wonderful mother she was and her caring and gentle ways.
Funeral services will be held at the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home on 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT. Calling hours are Thursday, August 4, 2011, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The service will be held at the funeral home on August 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, CT.
