He was the eldest of 5 children, born September 3rd, 1944 in Guardia Lombardi, Italy to the late Gaetano and Donata (Celetti) Di Pietro. Domenico was a hard worker and dedicated provider to his family from at a young age. At the age of 17, he moved to Switzerland to seek employment. He then returned to Italy to serve in the military from 1967-1968 and during this time, met and married his wife Maria. Following his military service, they returned to Switzerland where they had their two sons. In 1977, Domenico and his family moved to the United States and resided in New Britain, Connecticut. He began work as a machinist at Aerospace Techniques Inc. In August of 2017 he celebrated 40 years of employment with the same company.
He is predeceased by his sister Antoinette and brother, Antonio. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Gaetano “Tonino” and his wife, Deena of Massachusetts, Giuseppe and his wife, Lina of New Jersey and five grandchildren; Gianna, Dominick, Giuseppe, Guiliana and Giovanni. He is also survived by his sister in law Nicoletta, his brother Gerardo and his wife, Assunta, and his brother Angelo and his wife, Deborah. He also leaves behind his sister in law Angela and her husband, Rocco, his sister in law Vincenza and her husband, the late Antonio, his sister in law Giovannina and her husband Rocco, and his brother in law Gaetano and his wife Rosetta. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Domenico will be remembered for his incredible memory, caring heart and willingness to help others. He enjoyed connecting people from all around the world, something he was also very passionate about. His family was his pride and joy and spending time with his grandchildren was important. In his later years, going to work became more of a hobby where he enjoyed time with his coworkers who become like family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday Dec. 18, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church, 101 North St., New Britain. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
