Christine Irene Anastasio

Christine Anastasio, 63, beloved wife of Dario Anastasio for over 35 years, passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2020. She was born in New Britain, CT, to Leon and Apolonia Wawrzynowski. Chris and Dario were married in 1984 and raised their two sons, Daniel and David, in their home in Newington, CT. She was always very proud of her sons and loved them and Dario very much. Christine was a devoted, kind, loving and selfless person and she had a great sense of humor. She graduated from UCONN with a degree in nursing and was a dedicated and caring nurse for over 40 years at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT. During her career, Christine was the proud recipient of the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Christine is survived by her sister Halina Popczak and her husband George; her sister Sophia Creighton; her brother John Wawrzynowski and his wife Susan; her sister-in-law Elisa Nahas and her husband Bill; her sister-in-law Brunella Ibarrola and her husband Jaime; her sister-in-law Claudia Bowles and her husband Motkue; and her loving nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Marybeth, Marcia, Steven, Suzanne, Sarah, Lisa, Carolyn, Carolina, Jonathan, Daniela, and Michelle.

Christine was predeceased by her brother Edward Wawrzynowski.

In addition to her beloved husband, Chris will be dearly missed by her sons, her sisters, brother, and sisters- and brothers-in-law, her nieces and nephews, N2 and HOCC surgical team family, friends and her cat, Butterscotch, all of whom she loved dearly. Chris was a thoughtful and amazing person who was a joy to be around and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, July 15 at 11:30am. It will be held at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue in New Britain, CT.
