Anna Mary (Fragione) Battista, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 surrounded by family at her son's home in Vermont. Born in New Britain, CT to Sebastian and Josephine Fragione, Anna attended St Mary's Catholic School and New Britain High School, graduating in 1949. She continued her education at CCSU, where she received an associate’s degree. Anna worked at Landers, Frary and Clark, until July of 1954 when she married Vito Battista. Anna and Vito resided in New Britain for many years together where they raised six children, and were long time parishioners of St Ann's Church. After many years of living in her hometown of New Britain, Anna relocated to Plainville. Anna was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. An incredibly talented cook, Anna was known to always offer a meal to anyone who visited her home. She enjoyed watching the cooking channels and trying new recipes. She was always able to prepare the perfect dish, even though she never measured the ingredients.
Anna is survived by her six children and their spouses: Vito & Ali Battista of Hubbardton, Vermont, Steve & Luci Battista, Paul & Dawn Battista, James & Donna Battista, Joanne Ferguson all of Connecticut, and Suzanne & Brian Dubuc of Charlotte, Vermo nt; as well as 13 grandchildren: Steve Battista Jr, Paul Battista Jr, James Battista Jr, Nicole and Suzianne Battista, Rachael McGuiver, Joseph, Matthew and Jenna Ferguson, Megan Slumpski, John and Nicholas Dubuc, and Erin Fascendini; and 13 great grandchildren: Benjamin, Bella, Gianna, and Cora Battista, Zaria Longo, Skylar McGuiver, Olivia and Reese Slumpski, Sophia and Genevieve Dubuc, Dominic and Sebastian Fascendini, and Seth Gallagher, and many nieces and nephews.
Anna is predeceased by her loving husband, Vito Battista, her parents, Sebastian and Josephine Fragione, six sisters and one brother, son in law Ken Ferguson, and grandson William Dubuc. Anna will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Calling hours will be held at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, CT 06053 on Thursday, November 21st from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Mass to celebrate Anna’s life will be held at St Ann’s Church, Broad Street, New Britain, CT.
