Thomas Allen Mewbourn

Thomas Allen Mewbourn of New Braunfels, Texas left this earth to be with the Lord on January 23, 2022 at age 87. Thomas was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on February 25, 1934 to his parents Thomas and Erma Mewbourn.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Erma Mewbourn and sister Joan Mewbourn Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Eileen, son Andrew (Andy) and his wife Pam, his daughter Marjorie, son Jeff, grandchildren Amanda and Jeffrey and brother Jerry and wife Jo Beth Mewbourn.

He graduated high school in his hometown of Greenwood, SC, enlisted and served in the US Navy as a trained Aerial Photographer. After his service in the Navy, attended biomedical photography school and was a member of the Biological Photographers Association. He later moved to Houston, Texas where he worked as a Medical Photographer and did photography for the museum as well.

In retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard nearly every day tending to trees, his garden, and birdwatching. He had a special admiration for the sunflowers that grew wild in our yard. His photographic eye saw the beauty in nature. He will be dearly missed but in the hearts of family and friends.

A graveside service for Thomas will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:45 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #5 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
