Paul was a strong man of God. He loved his wives, children, and grandchildren faithfully. He loved a good joke and was a wonderful storyteller. He enjoyed surprises and loved to surprise others whenever possible. He liked to be “in” on the surprise for others! He sowed so many seeds of kindness and generosity in secret as he ascribed to the biblical principles in Matthew 6:3-4, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” We may never know all the lives he touched, but his reward is great in heaven.
He served in several professions over the course of a life well lived. He worked for Janitrol, crafting airplane parts and the “big boys” for almost 30 years. He was also a professional clown, sign maker, pastor, and nurse’s aide. He studied to be an electrician, and was a prolific reader on any subject of interest to him. He studied many biblical texts, philosophy, religion, and history to name a few. He gained knowledge wherever he could and was a lifelong learner of the Word of God. He resolved to live his life dedicated to confronting evil, pursuing justice, and loving mercy.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Pierson; his first wife, Mary Ford Pierson; second wife, Carolyn Sue Turner Pierson; daughter, Debra Pierson; sisters, Margaret Pierson Townsend and Elizabeth Pierson Watkins; and brother, John Pierson. He is survived by his daughter, Mimi Pierson Jackson and husband Bryan; and grandsons, Justin Jackson and Trevor Jackson.
