Marvin “Bobby” James Brietzke of New Braunfels, Texas passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the age of 77. Bobby was born on November 13, 1945 in Seguin, Texas to Eugene L. Brietzke and Annie Marie Salge Brietzke.
Bobby graduated from Seguin High School in 1965. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam as a combat infantryman. After his discharge from the Army in 1968, Bobby went to work at Mission Valley Mills where he met his future wife, Carol Caraway. They were married October 19, 1968 in New Braunfels. Bobby then went to work for American Airlines where he stayed until retirement, 38 years.
Bobby was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Maurice T. Suttles Post 3413 in San Marcos. He is a past commander of VFW Post 7110 in New Braunfels and past commander of Texas VFW District 5. He also served as a VFW Aide de Camp. Bobby was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #854 in Hallettsville, TX.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 54 years Carol Brietzke; sisters Helen Mayo and Jenny Faye Baese; brothers Eugene E. Brietzke and wife Edith, and LeRoy Brietzke and wife June; brother-in-law Mike Caraway and wife Debbie, numerous nieces and nephews and his 4 loving cats.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Eugene L. Brietzke and Annie Marie Salge Brietzke, brother Freddy Lee Brietzke, nephew Jackie Mayo, Jr., and great nephew Zaine Caraway.
Serving as pallbearers are Denver Bernard, Bryan Bease, Greg Mayo, Junior Brietzke, Clinton Caraway and Steven Caraway. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Grimes, Donald Ray Brietzke, Martin Kayter, Bradley Bease and Mike Caraway.
A public viewing and visitation for Bobby will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A chapel service will occur Friday, December 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A burial with Army honors will occur Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 TX Hwy 46, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
The Brietzke family asks that VFW members attending please wear a VFW shirt and their uniform hat.
