Lt. Col. Everett Charles Brown passed from this life peacefully in his bed on January 17, 2012. He was born in Wolco, Oklahoma in 1923 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He enjoyed cheering for The Cowboys, The Spurs, and LSU except when they played OU! He had been an active member of the Salvation Army, The Daedalians and the 1st Baptist Church where he was a past president of the Sunshine Singers.
A veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, Col. Brown served in the Navy, Marines, Army Air Corps, and the Air Force from which he retired under the Aero Space Command. Among the many honors and medals he received were the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Joint Chiefs of Staff Commendation Medal for outstanding service in founding the Inter-American Defense College, the Air Force Meritorious Service Award with cluster, and the Air Medal with 3 clusters.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Joyce Jeanette Brown. He is survived by his daughter, Candace Southmayd, her husband Bob and grandson, Dave Cinotto and wife Christina, all of New Braunfels. Also surviving are grandson, Chuck Cinotto and wife Natalie and 2 great-grandchildren of The Woodlands. His other daughter, Cynthia Lathrop and her husband Herman and their sons, Everett and William, reside in Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Bob and Dick Smith with wife, Kay of Canyon Lake and cousins, Nigel Leach of Houston and Jess DeMasters of Kingman, AZ.
Everett was a shining example of Christian light and love. His joyful and compassionate life will be remembered by all. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, January 28, 2012 at the 1st Baptist Church with visitation at Zoeller Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 pm on January 27, 2012.
The family charities are Multiple Sclerosis and/or New Braunfels Humane Society.
