Leona was born and raised in the small (farming) village of Page in Holt County, Nebraska in May 1939. She and her first husband Richard Christon, initially settled with their young family in Rockford, Illinois, and later moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1972. Leona earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas in 1984, but a chronic illness would unfortunately prevent her from ever fulfilling her dream of becoming a full-time educator. During that same fateful year she met, fell in love with, and married Bruce—the love of her life. After his retirement, they traveled extensively together in their RV for many blissful years. In later years, their treasured fur-babies Wendy and Missy provided Leona and Bruce with endless entertainment and constant love and affection. Leona's abiding belief in God helped to guide her through many of this life's challenges and obstacles. She was a passionate person who cared deeply for her family and friends, and her loss will be greatly felt by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service for Leona will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. Following the funeral service will be a burial at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 TX Hwy 46, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
