Larry Wayne Hanson, Sr. was born on July 21, 1941. He passed away on June 7, 2013 at the age of 71.He married Dorothy Ann Wenzel on September 5, 1964, and spent the next 48 years in holy matrimony.They were blessed with a daughter and two sons.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Ernest and Esther Hanson, brother , Ernest “Sonny” Hanson, sister, Gladys Srensky, and brothers-in-law, Glenn Lange, Albin Jozwiak, Marvin Wenzel, and sister-in-law, Norma Hanson.
Larry is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter, Connie, sons, Larry Wayne, Jr. and Terry, daughters-in-law, Lori Hanson, Kim Hanson, and son-in-law, Scott Hodges and six grandchildren, Kelsey, Kendall, Kourtney, Tristan, Elizabeth, and Zachary. He is also survived by his loving siblings, sisters, Eunice Jozwiak and Vera Lange, a brother, Marvin Hanson, and in-laws, Lenard and Delores Wenzel, Leroy and Pat Wenzel, Lue Wenzel, and Edmond Srensky, as well as many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Air Force for 4 years, much of which was spent overseas. He also was a 41 year veteran of the American Legion Post #179 of New Braunfels.
Larry worked in the construction business for most of his life and started his own successful construction company, Hanson’s Lab Installations, which he owned for over 20 years until his retirement in June, 2007.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, building hunting blinds, going on Sunday drives with Mom, and most of all time with his grandchildren, who they refer to as “PawPaw”.
He was a dedicated friend, a man who stayed true to his word and was always willing to give a helping hand. He will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Monday at Zoeller Funeral Home and continue until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church New Braunfels with Pastor Don Ofsdahl officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hope Hospice New Braunfels or to a Charity of one’s choice.
