Ida Sanders Bushkuhl, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Monday, May 11, 2015, at her home in Leander, TX, after a brief struggle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late James and Natalia Sanders.
Ida spent her childhood in New Braunfels, TX, and attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic School, where she graduated in 1960. In 1963 Ida married the love of her life, Michael Bushkuhl. They moved to Austin, TX, where she practiced as a secretary for the University of Texas for several years.
Ida’s life was devoted to her children, and she became a homemaker in her youth and was an active member of the PTA as well as her daughters’ Girl Scout leader for many years. After the graduation of her youngest daughter, she pursued her degree in teaching, graduating from Southwest Texas State University in 2002.
Ida had a passion for gardening and had a true green thumb. She was a member of the African Violet Society, and won numerous blue ribbons for the violets that she grew.
Ida is survived by her brother Melvin and sister Jennalee, her husband Michael Bushkuhl, daughters Natalie, Teresa, and Bethany, and two grandchildren, Kelcie and Lily. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 18, 2015. Arrangements are being handled by Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX.
