Willie Herman Cook, fondly known as “Daddy Bill,” went to be with the Lord peacefully in Wilmington, NC on February 2, 2024 at the age of 85. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Cook of 56 years. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Cook (Julie Cook), of Wilmington, NC and sister, Margaret Wethington (Terry) of Clarks, NC. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Krissy Tilly (Paul), Steven Cook (Cortney), Matthew Cook (Katie), and Taylor Cook (Christine) along with six great grandchildren: Kyla, Emma, Ava, Beckett, Caleb, and Ellis.
Bill Cook was born in New Bern, NC, on July 11, 1938 to George and Edna Cook, where he graduated from Jasper High School and spent the majority of his life. He worked as a civilian at MCAS Cherry Point and Camp Lejeune until his retirement as a GS at the young age of 50. Bill and Nancy were faithful members of Gethsemane FWB Church. After his retirement, Bill enjoyed life on the road in his RV with his love, Nancy. They traveled with their camping club, assisting in disaster relief efforts and providing for those affected. Bill shared a love for cooking and hosting family and friends in his home. His family will always remember Daddy Bill’s world famous cheese biscuits.
The family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 11-12 pm at Cotten Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12pm. A committal service will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Memorials will be received at the funeral home or donations can be made to Through His Eyes Ministry to carry on his legacy of servantship.
