Thomas E. Scott

Thomas Everett Scott, age 83, of Trent Woods, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was a loving husband and father and doting grandfather. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and led a team to the Little League World Series. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves. Thomas began his career with Montgomery Ward in 1962 as a stock boy at the New Bern store and worked diligently, climbing the ranks to serve as store manager in several locations throughout east coast. He eventually attained the role of district manager and retired from his original store in New Bern in 1998. Thomas was a longtime member of St. Mary's O.F.W.B. Church where he served in many positions through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Townsley and Irene Scott; his sister, Barbara Emer; and his son, Jeffrey Scott.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janice Glancy Scott of the home; son, Christopher Scott (Marisa) of Texas; daughter, Toni Morris (Keith) of Vanceboro; grandchildren, Sydney Smith, Parker Scott (Alejandra), Michaela Rice, and Austin Morris; step granddaughter, Kelsie Ferguson (Trey); and two great grandchildren, Paisley and Autumn Smith.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's O.F.W.B. Church Adult Sunday School Class, P.O. Box 1367, New Bern, NC 28563.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Terry Pitner for the compassionate care she provided to Mr. Scott during his illness.
