Shelby Jean Rhodes Davis

Shelby was born August 15, 1939 in Swansboro to Henry A. Rhodes and Sara Lee Harrington. She graduated from Swansboro High School before beginning her exciting journey through life. In 1980, Shelby married Robert W. Davis on New Years' Day. After many roles through the years in the workforce, Shelby enjoyed being a mother the most. From the beginning she was completely dedicated to Leanna and Sheldon. She also helped to raise her brothers and many nieces and nephews. Above all, her family's well-being and comfort was always her top priority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Betty Lou Jarman and Julia Ann Turnage; and her brother, Sheldon Everette Rhodes.

Shelby is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert W. Davis; two children, Leanna Marie Arbuthnott (John) and Sheldon Henry Rhodes; one brother, Henry Austin Rhodes (Tammy); and many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Shelby's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will follow the service at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
