Ruth Clark Sikes

at Croatan Village in New Bern, NC.

Ruth was born in Shelby, NC to Harvey and Ollie Clark on May 9, 1937.

She married Fred Vernon Sikes on August 19, 1956 in Shelby. Ruth worked

as a beautician for many years and for the Cleveland County Tax Office.

She was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in Shelby and Garber

Methodist Church in New Bern.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ollie Clark, and

sisters, Margaret Abbott and JoAnn Stone, both of Lumberton, NC.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Fred V. Sikes Sr.: son, Fred V. Sikes, Jr.

and wife, Loulie: grandchild, Trey Sikes: niece, Jean Davis: nephew, Bo Bo

Abbott: nephew, Eddie Stone.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held at Garber Methodist

Church on Thursday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Senior Pastor David Banks

officiating. A brief family ceremony will take place at the columbarium.

Guests are invited to join the family at a reception following the service.

Arrangements are in the care of Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garber Methodist

Church at 4201 Country Club Road, New Bern, NC 28562. The family of
