Rose Marie B. Smith

Rose Marie B. Smith, 82, of Cove City, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 surrounded by her family. Rose Marie or "Rosie" was born on April 24, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Nathan and Hazel Boodle.

Rose Marie was a wonderful woman who had a servants heart. She served her community for thirty-seven years as a bus driver and teacher's assistant in Craven County Schools, also known as "Ms. Buck". She volunteered with Bethany Christian Church with the Food Bank every Thursday. Her love for baking lead her to own a successful business called "Sweets & Pops" for over 10 years. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Left to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Patsy Davenport of Newport, Debbie Hawkins and her husband Curtis of Cove City, Michelle Moore and her husband David of New Bern, and Johnnie Hawkins; son Ray Smith and his wife Leigh Anne; grandchildren, Emily Parchman, Kristen Davenport, Amanda Holsopple, Christopher Hawkins, Kim Ledbetter, Ashley Manuel, Hunter Moore, Jennifer Hawkins, Jessica O'Dell, Nick Riggs, Megan Vanderpool, Kayla Miller, Riley Smith, Nathan Smith, Andrew Williams, Sirena Williams, and Scott Williams, and sixteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her two son in laws James E. Hawkins and Hoyt Davenport.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Cotten Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life in the chapel at 3:00PM with Lee Kirkman officiating. She will be laid to rest in Cove City Cemetery following the service. The family invites anyone that would like to the home of Deborah Hawkins 9220 Old Hwy 70, Cove City, NC 28523 at conclusion of all the services.
