Robert Michael Dixon, 73 of New Bern, died unexpectedly on April 26, 2012.
Robert worked for Hughes for 31 years as an engineer, and retired in 1998 to North Carolina. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Douglas H. Fox as a radioman. He also worked for the F.B.I. as an Electronics Maintenance Technician. Robert’s interests included working on his Mustang, operating his radio scanner and listening to jazz music.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dora; his three daughters, Marie Panos of North Andover, MA, Sandra Dixon of Melrose, MA, and Julie Dixon Grimes of Kernersville, NC; five grandchildren, Anne, Caitlin, Forrest, Duncan and Gabriel; one sister, Nora Dixon of Madison, CT; two sister in laws, Dorrie Dixon of Milford, CT, and Marjorie Dixon of Milford, CT and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Larry Dixon and Daniel Dixon, and his parents, Robert Dixon and Dorothy Fowler Dixon.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cotten Funeral Home Chapel.
