Richard was born on September 29, 1947 to Victor Glen and Maxine Kirpatrick Holt in Anderson, IN and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1965. Richard worked at International Harvester for over 30 years, from October 5, 1965 to August 31, 1996, as a welder and machinist and was voted in as the Union Steward. He was an avid outdoorsman and builder. He loved motorcycles and race cars, and enjoyed working on and repairing their engines. He was good with tools and was very independent, building his own home and cars. In his free time, Richard appreciated the chance to hunt and to spend time in warm climates like Florida. Richard will be remembered for his easygoing personality and ability to make friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Victor Glen Holt in 1998; his brother, Stanley Bruce Holt on March 25, 2012; his granddaughter, Abbie Linn Holt on Oct. 26, 2003; and his nephew, Eric Holt on Feb. 23, 1999.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Kirpatrick Holt; daughter, Kimberly Michelle Jones, and spouse, Ronnie; son, Richard Shane Holt, and spouse, Renita; three brothers, Jerry Glenn Holt, Gregory Lynn Holt, and Reginald Wayne Holt and spouse, Kate Edwards; sister, Vickie Leigh Maxi-Holt; sister-in-law, Karen Holt; seven grandchildren, Karen Spivey and spouse, Rangley, Ryan Jones and spouse, Leslea, Whitney Gregory Smith, Megan McElroy and spouse, Jimmy, Kaylee Michelle Jones, Olivia Sue Holt, and Richard Grant Holt; six great-grandchildren, Carolina Spivey, Tristan, Jaser, and Alaric Smith, Hudson McElroy, and Caleb Jones; two nephews, Nick and Gavin Holt; and four nieces, Gabrielle and Zoe Teter, Sherry Danielson, and Shelly Firsich.
Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
