Phil began his career in social services in Craven County, working in Food and Nutrition Services before going on to become a Local Business Liaison at the state level. He set the standard for what a "LBL" should be to county departments of social services and his knowledge of DSS finances was unmatched anywhere in North Carolina.
He was a member and past master of Doric Lodge No. 568 A.F. & A.M. and was very active at Croatan Presbyterian Church, often filling in as needed behind the pulpit. He had a true servant's heart for his family, his masonic brethren and his neighbors. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Phil is survived by his "sweetie," Mindy Moore; his children, Priscilla West, Kimberly Lassiter (Charles Guard), and Cameron Lassiter (Savannah); sisters, Sallie Scarboro and Joyce Lassiter; brother, Marshall Lassiter; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel with Dr. Richard Boyd officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to benefit the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Phil Lassiter.
