He graduated from Forrest Sherman High School in Naples, Italy. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran of Desert Storm and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also a Drill Instructor at Paris Island, South Carolina from ‘94-‘99. Reese was a lifetime member of Burleson Masonic A.F.A.M. Lodge #649 in Burleson, TX.
He is survived by his wife Jullie Wertz of Havelock, NC, his parents, Jerry & Delores Wertz of Havelock, his son Jerry R.M. Wertz of Havelock and his two daughters, Lorri Smith (Chris) of Fort Barnwell, NC, and Jennifer Lee (Kevin) of Jacksonville, NC. His sisters, Becky Escher of GA & Tabby Wertz of FL, and his grandson, Joshua M. Wertz.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cotten Funeral Home.
Service will be 1pm Saturday, November 10 at Sherwood Forest FWB Church, in New Bern.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.
