Mary Elizabeth (Hagan) Jones

Mary Elizabeth Hagan Jones, age 89, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. Mary was born December 30, 1931 in Craven Co., North Carolina to the late, Alec Lencie Hagan and Martha Elizabeth Small Hagan.

She is survived by two daughters; Debbie Clements of New Bern and Tina Shoaf (Brian) of Raleigh, one granddaughter, Ashley (Braden) of Colorado, two great grandchildren; Henry and Lila, two sisters; Ethel Ford of Wilmington and Joyce Harris (Joe) of Aurora and many nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from Jasper High School. During high school she was a cheerleader. After graduation she attended college in Raleigh where she obtained an Associates Degree. She worked for ASCS for many years in the federal building in Raleigh. She loved to watch NC State basketball, anything Elvis or Disney, playing cards, especially Bridge or Canasta. She loved to entertain and host holiday parties and gatherings. She enjoyed baking and making things. She was quite crafty. She loved her family especially her grand and great grands. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
