Mary retired from Carolina East Medical Center, after 40 years, working mostly in Intensive Care. She enjoyed teaching various courses at the AHEC department. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, amateur photography, occasional trips and watching wildlife. Mary treasured the time she spent with the Women’s Jail Ministry in Craven County many years ago, where she learned we are all the same, in jail or out of jail.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manly “Lester” and Cecilia Kennedy Conner.
Mary is survived by her sister, Kathy Conner; brother, David Conner and wife Ginny; nephew, Will Conner and niece, Caroline Conner. She is also survived by her cats Tiger, Tucker, Cleopatra and George.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Cotten Funeral Home. Friends are invited to join Mary’s family for food and fellowship immediately following the service.
