Marjorie Jones Humphrey

On Tuesday, February 24, 2015 Heaven gained an angel. With her family by her side, Mrs. Marjorie Jones Humphrey, 86, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is celebrating her new body with those she loved already with the Lord. She was a Christian and relied on God as her strength. Her faith never wavered in her suffering.

Mrs. Humphrey was a loving and sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of many. She was a member of New Bern Church of God where she served the Lord faithfully. She was employed by Roses Department Store from where she retired.

Mrs. Humphrey was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Paxton Neal Humphrey, grandson, Chris Morris, her parents Dalton Troy, Sr., Mary Stokes Jones, her brothers, Graham “Buddy” Jones, Reid Jones, Walton “Duke” Jones, Don Jones and D.T. Jones and sisters, Mary Lou Rhodes, Ann French, Judy Jones and Mavis Jones.

She is survived by her five daughters Anne (Danny) Ormond, Patricia (Tommy) Glisson, Audrey (Ronnie) Wrenn all of New Bern, NC, Linda (Worth) Howell of Wilmington, NC and Cathy (Jessie) Jones of Greenville, NC; brothers and sisters George (Gayle) Jones, Reverend Philip (Dessie) Jones, Shirley (Hilton) Vernelson, Sandra (Bobby) Harris, and Helen (Curtis) Mills; sister-in-laws Sharon Jones and Lila Jones. She had twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery, New Bern, NC.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to everyone at Pruitt Health Neuse Nursing and Pruitt Health Hospice for the care, love, kindness and compassion shown to her and the family.
