Kristy Renee (Spear) Nesbitt

Kristy Spear Nesbitt 54 of New Bern NC passed away on January 14, 2023. Kristy was born in Craven County on July 26, 1968 to Preston and Mary Spear. She attended Ruth’s Chapel Christian School and Craven Community College. She worked at Weyerhaeuser and became a Teacher Assistant with Craven County Schools.

Kristy loved cheerleading for the Bulldogs at RCCS. She adored her Temple Church family. She participated in VBS, singing in the choir and worship team, and played on the softball team. She was a big fan of NASCAR racing. Car 24 driven by Jeff Gordon was her favorite. She enjoyed all genres of music especially Classic Rock. She was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tarheels and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kristy was best known for her quick witted humor, fierce determination, generous spirit and unforgettable laugh. She is survived by her son, “Little” John and his girlfriend, Anna; mother, Mary Spear; brother, Rusty Spear, his wife Patricia and their son Sean and his wife Alisha and son, Christian and great nieces, Madison and Bella; sister Robin Nobles, her husband, Kermit, son, Kermit Jr and daughter, Madison; Nephew, Brandon Ormond and Austin Ormond, his wife, Sandra and children, Victoria, Isaac and Olivia; and sister, Rhonda Nobles, son Matthew and his girlfriend, Ty.

She is predeceased by her father, Preston Spear, sister Rebecca Ormond and niece, Heather Grant.

The family would like to thank the staff of Carolina East Health Systems and Duke Neurology.

A Celebration of Kristy's Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Cotten Funeral Home.

Memorial donations can be given to Temple Church in lieu of flowers.
