Kirby Burrel Norman, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 7th, 2019.
Kirby was a graduate of Farm Life High School, Vanceboro, NC. He retired from E.I. DuPont, Kinston and then enjoyed his retirement at East Coast Equipment in New Bern working among the farming machinery as farming was a lifelong passion.
Kirby was a member of New Haven F.W.B. Church in Ernul where he served as a church deacon and treasurer of the Men's Fellowship.
He was a friend to everyone he met and will be remembered for his kind, humble, gentle, loving nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Dezelle Norman; son, Jeffery Anderson; and brother, Jerome Norman.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy Whitford Norman; his children, Carol Belangia (Donald), Ronnie Norman (Elaine), Barbara Nobles (Glen), Sherry Broadway, Lisa Anderson, and Don Norman (Kim); his brother, Jerry Norman (JoAnne); his sister, Annette Arnold (Rex); fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and special cousins, Terry and Gaynelle Lewis and family.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 10th at New Haven F.W.B. Church, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Paul Jackson and Reverend Jonathan Ipock officiating. He will then be laid to rest in the Cayton Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Kirby and Cathy Norman.
Special thanks to Home Instead Home Care and to Hospice of Pamlico County for their wonderful care that allowed us to keep him at home. Jackie, Tina, Kristy, Kimmie, Angela, Anna, Rudell, Linda and Jabria - you were awesome and we appreciate all you did for Kirby.
