A native of New Bern, John graduated from New Bern High School in 1974 and worked as a mechanic at Baldree’s for several years. He married Vanessa Wooten on July 6, 1996.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Pool Overman Sr. and Evelyn Elizabeth Overman.
To cherish his memories he leaves behind his wife, Vanessa Overman; two sisters, Barbara Ward of Myrtle Beach, SC and Cynthia Pellitier of Huntersville, NC; three step-children, Nicole Wooten (New Bern), Jason Wells (Greensboro), and Alexis Wells (Greensboro); nine grandchildren; father-in-law, Rev. Thomas H. Wooten; mother-in-law, Addie Wooten; three brothers-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
