On September 30, 2021 we lost our Vann suddenly and unexpectedly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son. Vann was always quick with a smile or joke and would do anything to help anyone, he was passionate about his family and spent as much time as he could with us. Vann loved to be outdoors and especially loved being on his boat or near water, Emerald Isle was his happy place. Vann was a Viper Technician with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for the last 14 years. Vann leaves many family and friends behind to remember his happy smile.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 31 years, Lisa Benton, his son James Isaac Benton and wife Casey Lei. The apple of his eye, his grandson Joseph James Benton. Vann is survived by his parents JB and Eunice Benton of Fremont, his brothers Colby Benton (Jan) of Richmond, VA, Tony Benton (Rachel) of Fremont, NC and many nieces and nephews who he treasured. Vann was pre deceased by his youngest son Daniel Clayton Benton, it was the tragedy of his life, we take comfort in knowing they are reunited in heaven.
A celebration of Vann's life will be held Saturday October 9, 2021 at 11am at the New Bern Yacht Club located at 1206 Brices Creek Road, New Bern NC 28562. Vann was a casual happy guy and the service will be casual. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice
