NEW BERN - Gordon Douglas McKenzie, 87, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving his country for 26 years.
Gordon is survived by a son, Mark McKenzie of New Bern; daughter, Jean McKenzie of New Bern and one grandchild.
A service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
