He preceded in death by his wife June White Wilson.
He is survived by his children James H. Wilson and wife Lynne of Raleigh, Debbie Wilson Hines of New Bern, Donna Jo Wilson of Durham; grandchildren Jimmy Wilson and wife Tavia of Seattle , WA, Andrew Wilson and wife Lydia of El Segundo, California, Elizabeth Wilson of Raleigh, Lindsey Hines of New Bern, Donald Hines of New Bern; brothers/sisters Larry Wilson and wife Vi of Pensacola, FL, Margaret Schake of Madison, MN; great grandchildren JT Wilson, Laney Wilson, Carter Wilson of Seattle WA, Savannah Wilson of El Segundo, CA; and has many nieces and nephews all over the country that he loved.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, working on anything that was broken, and a beer with friends. He was an active member of the VFW of Havelock . He retired from the US Marine Corps after 29 ½ years. He then attended ECU and earned a degree in adult education. Then he put all of his past knowledge to teach auto mechanics at Havelock High School until he fully retired at the age of 65. Since his retirement, he has volunteered at Cherry Point Golf Course maintaining the golf carts and whatever they needed done. It was his favorite pastime.
Funeral will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2 pm at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home before and after the service.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in his name to the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.
