Dewey Barker Jones Sr., age 79, of Reelsboro, North Carolina passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022. Born in Pamlico County, he was the son of the late Mack and Marie Jones. He worked for the Department of Transportation for many years operating heavy equipment and also served in the Army Reserves. He will be remembered as a man who would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed piddling around the house, working on lawnmowers and target practice.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mack Wallace, Ephram Jones; son, Andy Jones; and grandson, Trever Jones.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Barnes Jones of the home; son, Bud Jones (Libby); grandsons, Kenneth Jones and Andrew Wilson; granddaughter, Alecia Valadez (Sergio); sisters, Katie Armstrong, Annette Armstrong, Janet Smith, and Nova Lopez; brother, Malcolm Jones (Ellen); many nieces and nephews; and a longtime buddy, Frankie Manning.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Cotten Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Reelsboro P.H. Church with Pastors Alan Woodard and Cindy Midgette officiating. He will be laid to rest at Sand Hill Cemetery in Reelsboro following the service.
