I'm so very sorry to the Kornegay family for the loss of David.  He was such a good man.  He was my father in-law at one time, and if I ever did anything  wrong while in that family, neither David nor Barbara ever told me, and neither of them were ever the type of people to hold back.  I love David so very much as well as Barbara, she is such a wonderful  mother to everyone, as well as a very good friend.  David made me a set of end tables for Christmas  one year, I still have those end tables.  I moved and unfortunately do not have room for them, I tried to give them to my daughter (Jessica, David's granddaughter) but she didn't  want them.  I could not bring myself to sell them. So I made arrangements  for them to be stored.  David also loved watching animal showes, it was a known fact not to bother him while he was watching them on the TV. Lol. David has been gone two years now, I'm sure that he is up there in heaven probably  helping Jesus  build things, after all Jesus was a carpenter,  and watching animal shows. I'm very sure that God needed him in heaven more than he needed him here on earth and this is why he took him when he did.  I hope that his family can find comfort in knowing this fact and I too try to find comfort in believing this. May God give each member of David's family  and especially 
Barbara the comfort they may need at this time as well as each and every day.

I remember working under him and how he always tried to teach you the right way to build cabinets at Hatteras Yachts. It was truly a pleasure to know him.  May the family find peace knowing he’s in heaven rejoicing with no pain and watching over you all. Rest In Peace David. 

Our family lost a part of it's heart. Words can not express the heartache of this loss. My family won't be the same without him and Thanksgiving will be different. We will not be focusing so much on Thanksgiving, but remembering a huge part of the family and reflecting on him. Granddaddy David was a strong part of the family and will be truly missed. He lived a long and full life. I have so many memories of him.The one thing that sticks out the most is when I was little I would be sitting on granddaddys knee and he would pop his dentures out, and I thought that was the funniest thing. He would read book's to us and hug us every time we saw him. And boy you better not ever climb on granddaddys truck he would get ya. He called everyone son and I will miss hearing that. He cared so much for Grandma and took such good care of her. I'm so glad he was able to spend his last day doing what he loved to do, and was able to be around family. We love you Granddaddy. We know you are at peace and resting with our heavenly father. 💛💛💛

Jean I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'll always remember the fishing and hunting shows we watched together when I visited your home. He always seemed a kind and gentle man. I'll miss him.

Sorry to hear about your loss,  I worked under Dave for many years at Hatteras.  He was one of a kind. Praying for all the family that God will send  strength and comfort. 

Very sorry for the loss of your husband, father and grandfather.  David was a great man, he will truly be missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Uncle David was a very special man. I loved to sit and listen to him tell his stories about him and his brother George (Boots) my father going fishing they always came back with a good story. Also the stories of the pranks he pulled on the kids. He loved his family. He's the last of Grandma Bessie's children to leave this earth and I'm sure she was waiting with her arms wide open. We will miss you Uncle David and we love you.
