Charles went home to be with his Lord during the early morning hours of December 2, 2021. He was born at the family home in Cove City, NC on February 19, 1934 to parents Albert Wadsworth and Pearl White Ipock. He was the fourth of eight children.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1951. he served aboard numerous ships and was stationed at several shore locations. He achieved the enlisted rank of STCM, E-9. He served for 23 years and while all the brothers served in the US Navy, and he and four brothers all retired with a total of 124 years of service.
He married the love of his life, Joann Heath Ipock on May 8, 1958 and they embarked on their journey of 63 years of marriage. Their devotion, love, and dedication is an example of what a marriage should be.
He is survived by his wife Joann, a son Steven Albert and wife Marylee Hartman Ipock, two granddaughters, Morgan Caroline Ipock and Addison Paige Ipock, all of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by one sister, Marjorie Ipock Hawkins of Cove City, NC, and three brothers, Donald Ipock and wife Joann of Cove City, NC, Teddy Ipock and wife Jackie of Oxnard, CA, and Cary Ipock of Cove City, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Charles Bruce Ipock, a sister, Carolyn Ipock and brothers James "Ham" Ipock and Marion Ipock.
His interests included woodworking and hosting family gatherings (pig-pickings). He will always be remembered for his love of his Country, God and his 2nd career of 24 years at Hatteras Yachts in New Bern, NC. He was active in the family church, Cove City Free Will Baptist where he served for 35 years as a deacon and trustee. Known for his kindness to others, his generous nature will be missed.
The family thanks Hospice and Palliative Care of Wilmington for their uplifting care, especially FNP Regina, caregivers Marenza, Rosetta and Odyssey for all their care and friendship.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2021 in the Cotten Funeral Home chapel, followed by a graveside service in the Cove City Cemetery.
