Jean was a member of St. Mary's FWB Church. She loved attending church every Sunday, especially enjoying lunch at Wendy's with her special friends. During Jean's time at St. Mary's FWB Church, she was able to watch many children grow up into adults. Many of these adults considered Jean as a mother, aunt, or close friend. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed cross-stitching, crafts, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family. All who knew and loved Jean will miss her dearly.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish her memories are many loving family members and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Burroughs, and her brother, Elmus "Buddy" Mitchell (Earlene Mitchell).
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Cotten Funeral Home. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Cotten Funeral Home. Following the service, Jean will be laid to rest beside her husband at New Bern Memorial.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Betty Jean Mitchell Burroughs.
