Devoted Matriarch

Barbara Bennett, 76, died Friday August 22nd at sunrise in her home surrounded by family, filled to the brim with love. Barbara was born July 13th, 1938 in Los Angeles to Eugene and Bernice Ecker, the oldest of five children. She moved to New Bern 34 years ago leaving pieces of her heart in both Hawaii and California. An accomplished artist, world traveler, EEG technician and devoted member of St. Paul Parish, she was active in several community groups including the GOP, Red Hat Society and New Bern Women's Club.

A loving mother, above all else, she is survived by her eight adoring children; Steve Garcia, Juli Brand, Leilani Logan,Gina Ray, Lisa Zaytoun, Michael Coulson, James Coulson and Meli Lussier; twenty-three devoted grandchildren, 11(and counting) great grandchildren and countless friends across the globe.

Funeral will be Monday August 25th at 2pm at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Denis Heams presiding and Father Tom Tulley as celebrant.
