Theresa A. (Choquette) Gregoire, 92, of Rochester, passed peacefully at home on December 23, 2022, with family by her side. She was the wife of the late Laurent “Pat” Gregoire, who was her soul mate for life and her guardian angel after his death.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Alfred and Rosina (Robert) Choquette, she and Pat raised their children in Mattapoisett then moved to Rochester where they made a country home for family to gather and grandchildren to grow.
After Pat’s death in 2004 Theresa acquired a new “family” when her eldest granddaughter moved in with two school age daughters. This kept Theresa young and, according to her, gave her purpose. The two of them never had an argument in the eighteen years they shared a home and were blessed to have each other. She was able to get to know all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a matriarch to a remarkable family tree.
Until recently Theresa was very active; traveling, playing piano, singing, winning card games, outings with family or friends and activities at the Rochester Council on Aging. She was witty and smart to the end! Throughout her life she remained devoutly faithful to her Catholic religion.
She is survived by her five children; Leonard Gregoire and wife Christine of East Freetown, Marcel Gregoire and wife Lorraine of Wareham, Jeannette Oliveira and husband Felix of Clearwater, FL, Elaine Cellana and partner David LaMachia of Gardner, and Gary Gregoire and partner Karen MacFee of Mason, NH, brother; George Choquette and wife Danielle of Wareham, sister-in-law; Luisa Choquette of Crockett, CA, godson; Steve Neves and wife Mary of New Bedford, thirteen grandchildren; Melissa Gregoire Vaughan and husband Christopher of Rochester, Marcy Gregoire and partner Sayre Anthony of Turners Falls, Derek Gregoire and wife Kylene of Lakeville, Seth Gregoire and partner Shannon Cassidy of Green Bay, WI, Hannah Council and husband Josh of New Bedford, Amelia Oliveira of Clearwater, FL, Aaron Oliveira of St. Petersburg, FL, Dr. Kristen Cormier and husband Austin of Gardner, Kyle Cellana and fiancé Kate Conwell of Gardner, Zachary Gregoire and partner Rachel Keating of Mason, NH, Nicholas Gregoire and partner Alyssa Westover of Northfield, NH, Sorrell Gregoire and partner Raymond Nailey of Nassau, NY, and Cedar Gregoire of North Dartmouth, and thirteen great grandchildren; Ayla Gregoire, Kaiya Gregoire, Jack Vaughan, Annaleah Gregoire, River Gregoire, Paxton Gregoire, Camden Gregoire, Anajae’ Council, Ariana Council, Lila Cormier, Callen Cormier, Olivia Gregoire, and Lennon Oliveira, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
