Stephen A. Josefek 63, of East Freetown, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at home surrounded by his close family and friends after a courageous battle with Cancer. Throughout his illness, he never once felt sorry for himself, but rather felt bad for those around him that he would leave behind. Spending time with friends and family was a priority.
Throughout his illness, he always kept upbeat and positive. His favorite place besides his home was the Little Phoenix restaurant where he had many friends whom he cared deeply for. He was a devoted husband and business partner to his loving wife Sharon. They owned and managed two restaurants in Mattapoisett and Acushnet earlier in their marriage. He loved riding motorcycles, picking wild mushrooms, cooking, playing guitar, and collecting antiques. He loved family trips to his cottage in New Hampshire spending time fishing, and playing ice hockey with his son Dante. He spent his entire career working for himself in the real estate and construction business where he always treated people with respect and honesty.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Frank J. Josefek, and Elena (Susi) Josefek. In addition to his wife Sharon and his son Dante, he leaves behind, his brother Michael Josefek, and wife Jacqueline, a sister Linda Hickney and her husband James, nieces Ericka (Josefek) Osswald, and her husband Chad, Michele (Josefek) Seyez, and her husband Jeff, Jennifer Hickney, nephew Nathan Hickney, and wife Kristen, great nephews Tyler Osswald, Ryan Osswald, Jaxson Seyez, his loving mother-in-law Helen Souza, brothers-in-law Robert Souza, and Steven Souza, nephews Timothy Souza and wife Stephanie, and Robert Souza , great nephews Nolan Souza and Liam Souza, his last living uncle Charles Williams, and many cousins and friends too numerous to mention here who have been close to him over the years.
We wish to especially thank his life long pals Gary Harwood, Peter Sarkes, Jon Josefek, and Albert Lagesse, who visited with him right to the end.
His Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 for all to attend. Burial private.
