Shirley W. Veerpalu

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Lydia and Armand Fournier, she was a 1940 graduate of Fairhaven High School and a member of the National Honor Society.

Mrs. Veerpalu was a resident of California for 50 years before she returned to New Bedford in 1999. She was a communicant of Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church, Dartmouth where she was a member of the Church Book Club. Mrs. Veerpalu was also a member of the Royal Travelers.

She is survived by nephew Ronald Fournier and his wife Eileen of Bridgewater, NJ; three nieces, Shirley Renee Parr of Arvada, CO, Judith Howland of Dartmouth and Dianne DaCosta of New Bedford; several great nieces and nephews; and close friend, Barbara Silva of Mattapoisett.

She was the sister of the late Norman R. and Donald V. Fournier.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. in Acushnet Cemetery.
