Richard P. Cormier

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Andrew and Jeanne (Tetreault) Cormier he was a lifelong area resident. He is a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven.

Mr. Cormier served in the United States Air Force. He later worked as an electrical engineer for Bose and Motorolla.

Dick was a self-taught “Mr. Fix It”. He enjoyed creating things and woodworking. Richard loved his family. He enjoyed going with them on cruises, watching his grandson’s sports, and road trips with his wife. He also loved tending his garden, building model airplanes, fishing and tinkering in his workshop. Richard will be remembered for having the patience of a saint and his “classic dad jokes”.

The Cormier family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, the VNA, and the Veteran’s Administration for all of their hard work and care. A special thank you to the New Bedford Fire Fighters from Station’s 5 & 8 for their dedication to service. The family will always be grateful for all the help they received over the years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Joy Webb and her husband David of North Adams, Greg Cormier and his partner Jason Cieto of Fairhaven, and Beth Cormier and her partner David Sampson of Wareham; three grandsons, Jack and Dominic DeMayo and Bryce Webb. He was the brother of the late Lucille Lawrence and Leonard A. Cormier.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
