Born in Fall River, Pauline married and moved to New Bedford in 1949, where she raised her family and worked in the garment industry for many years becoming a Supervisor at States Nitewear before her retirement. In 1974 the family moved to their current residence in Acushnet.
Pauline was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Royal Travelers, and Jolly Seniors. She was an active communicant at St. Francis Xavier Parish, spending much of her time using her sewing and knitting skills to assist with numerous parish projects. She was also an avid Red Sox fan.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard N. Cormier and his wife Judith, of Westport, and Paul D. Cormier of Acushnet, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Cormier and his wife Kimberly of Worcester and Jacqueline Potvin and her husband Derek, of Tiverton, RI. She is also survived by a great granddaughter, Ashley Potvin of Tiverton, RI, two sisters Claire Guay of Westport and Vivian Polak of Fall River, her brother Raymond Hetu of Maine, her brother-in-law Donat Cormier of Dartmouth and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 9 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by her funeral mass at 10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours, Tuesday 5-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions be made to St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet, MA 02743 in Pauline’s name.
