Patricia A. (Souza) Silva-Bettencourt of New Bedford passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at her residence after a brief illness. She was the wife of Susan Bettencourt, to who she had been happily married for 32 years.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Vieira) Souza, Patricia was a lifelong city resident. She was employed by the City of New Bedford for 15 years, as a bus driver and a custodian, retiring in 2010. She had also been employed by Tremblay Bus Co. as a school bus and motor coach operator.
Patricia loved her family, crocheting, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She was a member of the woman’s guild and sang in the church choir. She also taught Sunday school, grades 1 through 6. She had previously owned and operated a movie theatre in Illinois.
In addition to her loving wife, she is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Silva and Heather Larson and Bobby; two sons, Bill Larson and wife Crystal and Rob Larson and Anna; fourteen grandchildren, Kassandra, Kendra, Lucas, Matthew, Kayla, Annalise, Marissa, Ian, Zack, Zane, Evan, Genevieve, Kaden and Ashley and one great-grandchild.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:00AM in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited.
