Normand J. Ouellet, of New Bedford, entered into rest on Sunday Nov. 14, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital at the age of 90. He was the husband of the late Janet A. (Roy) Ouellet with whom they shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Felix and Alma (Toussaint) Ouellet, he had resided in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Ouellet served in the United States Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of corporal.
He worked as department manager for Mars Bargain Land and Fairhaven Corp for 19 years as shipping and receiving supervisor until his retirement.
Normand was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church with his wife Janet where he was president of the senior citizens group for many years and awarded Man of the Year in 2011. Normand could be often seen at many church functions selling raffle tickets. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Seniors of Fairhaven.
Survivors include his children, Normand F. Ouellet and his wife Jeanne, Alma B. Dubay and her significant other AJ Petit, and Ronald A. Ouellet and his significant other Antonia Carvalho; 4 grandchildren, Kevin Dubay, Keith Dubay, Renee Ouellet and Katelyn Benoit; 6 great grandsons, Peyton, Jackson, Evan, Kaiden, Maximus and Caleb; and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Michael Ouellet, brother of the late Alice Duff, Jeannette Nunes, Albert, Ernest, Gerry, Roland and Raymond Ouellet.
Normand was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is missed dearly.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 9:00 AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Masks are preferred.
