Nancy Louise McKenna

Nancy was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Romeo R. Poirier and Frances N. (Benoit) Poirier, and was a longtime resident of Acushnet. Nancy was a preschool teacher at St. Francis Xavier School in Acushnet until her retirement in 2017.

Nancy loved her family dearly. Her greatest joy was spending time with them. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and rarely missed the opportunity to attend all of their school and sporting events. Nancy enjoyed traveling, shopping, Christmas time and tending to her summer flowers. She was an avid reader. Nancy was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Along with her husband, survivors include her three children, Aimee Shaughnessy and her husband, Daniel of New Bedford, Caitlin Araujo and her husband, Kenneth of Acushnet, and Erin McKenna, Esq. and her husband, Michael Morocco of Riverside, RI; and her seven grandchildren, Riley Shaughnessy, Corporal Owen Shaughnessy, US Army, Connor Araujo, Kailey Araujo, Kerrin Araujo, Emilia Morocco and Isla Morocco. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Wayne M. Poirier.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 8:30 to 10:30AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main Street, Acushnet, MA 02743.
