Mary Jane (Desroches) Beaulieu, age 96, of New Bedford, died Sunday, November 13, 2022 on her birthday with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Lucien Beaulieu Sr. and was happily married for 61 years at his passing. She was the only child of the late Elidore and Blanch (Boudreau) Desroches.
She was born in Hartford, CT, before moving to Fairhaven as a child, and then lived all of her adult life in New Bedford. She was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church of New Bedford, which has now merged and became St. Gabriel the Arch-Angel Parish.
She attended Sacred Hearts Academy and Fairhaven High School, and also graduated from Campbell Secretarial School.
She worked for many years at Farrington Business Machines as a group leader, and then at Acushnet Company in the office as a clerk typist until her retirement.
She attended or watched Holy Mass daily, enjoyed her crossword puzzles, Foxwoods on occasion, and going to the Polished Look Beauty Salon weekly for her hair set and seeing her many friends, and then going out to eat with her son Clement.
She celebrated her 95th birthday with a surprise party luncheon given by her loving family at the Century House in Acushnet, she said she was lucky and blessed to have so many that loved her.
She is survived by two loving sons, Lucien Beaulieu and his wife Marilyn of South Dartmouth, and Clement of New Bedford with whom she lived with and catered to her every need and want without hesitation, she will be “GREATLY MISSED”. She was the mother of the late Edward Beaulieu.
She loved her 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren deeply and always brought a smile to her face when she saw them and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11am in St. Gabriel the Arch-Angel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
