Born in Ambler, PA a daughter of the late Jacop and Elizabeth (Groff) Hess she lived most of her life in New Bedford. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Marion worked in the retail industry. She was a skilled artist who enjoyed painting, gardening, and feeding birds. Marion was a foster grandmother for Jireh Swift School for over 15 years. She was also a 20 plus year survivor of breast cancer, as a result of early detection and treatment. She was the last of 12 children.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Montembault and his wife Lisa of New Bedford, Garry Montembault and his companion Caroline of New Bedford, Sandra Teixeira of Northport, FL, Cheryl Jensen and her husband John of ME, Gayle Frates of Leominster, Brenda Rapoza of San Diego, CA and former daughter-in-law Brenda J. Montembault of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Wendy Atkinson, Christopher Montembault, Patrick Frates, Michael Teixeira, and Spencer Rapoza; seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She was predeceased by two son-in-laws; Michael Frates and Adelino Teixeira.
Her funeral will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Parish, Main St., Acushnet. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
